Beautiful Dream is the second studio album by the John Spignesi Band. It was self-released on May 25, 2019. It is the only studio recording to feature bassist Thom Guthrie, who joined the band after Bob LaCroix's departure in October 2017.
Recording[edit]
The album marked the second collaboration between Matt Terribile and JSB. It was recorded mostly during the Fall of 2018 at Ace Tone Productions in Bethany, CT. As a change to their previous album, the instrumentals for Beautiful Dream were tracked live and together as a band. The result was a drastic change in sound, giving the members the opportunity to play off each other. All four members contributed vocals to the album, with harmonies being arranged by Terribile & Alling.
CD Release Party[edit]
Prior to the release of the album, Thom Guthrie announced he was leaving the band due to creative differences. Local musician Joe Jeffery had seen the band a few times and quickly stepped into the role, performing with the band during the CD release party at Strange Creek Campout only one month after joining. The CD release party for "Beautiful Dream" was held at Wormtown Trading Company's annual Strange Creek Campout in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Longtime festival official Mark Blanchette collaborated with JSB to celebrate the album release in the KeeWanee Cabin for a late night set.
