Buldan Al-Haydari (born on 26 September 1926—died on 6 August 1996) was an Iraqi poet of Kurdish decent.[2][3][4]
Early life and education[edit]
Al-Haydari was born on 26 September 1926 in Baghdad. His first name, Buldan means "towering" in Kurdish.
Career[edit]
Al-Haydari was known for his free verse poems since the 1940s, and was considered one the best free verse poets in the Arab World.[1]Following the fall of the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq in 1958, al-Haydari continued his political activism until he compelled to exile in Lebanon (1963-1976), where he earned a living as a bookstore manager, teacher, and journalist. He relocated to in England in early 1980s. In 1992, Dar Suad al-Sabah published his nine books of poetry combined in two volumes.[5][6]

Al-haydari died on 6 August 1996 at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, following an unsuccessful heart surgery.[1]
