Charanjeet Singh Sondhi (born 17 January 1975) is an Indian playback singer.[1] He has sung in Hindi and Punjabi language. He has also released Indian pop and devotional albums under various labels (T-series, Venus Worldwide Entertainment and Saregama). His singing style is considered similar to the legendary Kishore Kumar whom he also considers his motivation. He has come into the limelight through the Punjabi Song "Puttran De Dard" (2006), which was nominated for the "Etc Channel Punjabi Music Awards" in the "Best Debut Male Category".[2]
Early life[edit]
Charanjeet Singh Sondhi was born on 17 January 1976 into a Sikh family in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, India. His father Late Gurmukh Singh Sondhi was a contractor and mother Amarjeet Kaur Sondhi is a housewife. His elder brother Harwinder Sondhi is a Hockey Coach in Delhi and his younger brother died in 2011. He spent his early childhood in Balghat where he completed his schooling and then did Bachelor's in Commerce from Bhopal.[3] He was a hockey player of state level.
Career[edit]
In 2001, due to his melodies voice, he was selected in Late Gulshan Kumar's T-Series music company by giving an audition. With the album "Maa ke Darbar Hai Jaana" released by T-Series, he made his first break as a Playback Singer.[4] After that he recorded more than 10 devotional albums with popular singers like Debashish, Preeti, Pinky, Javed Ali, Soham Chakraborty, Kalpana, Priya Bhattacharya etc. His big hits includes his solo bhajan album "Hey Ganpati Tera Naam Bada" , "Sai Baba ki Dhoom", "Main Nikla Rang Leke" song from his "Holi Hits" Album. He also gave his voice in A. R. Rahman's Remix album Vol-1 & 2. And Universal Music released a remix album titled "O Hansini".He got national and international fame with his Punjabi Album "Dard". He gave break to Rajat Tokas in one of the video of "Dard" album.He has also gave his voice to Ekta Kapoor's Serials. He has performed in many rallies of Narendra Modi and gave his voice to "Ache Din Aane Walle Hain".
