Chinese Consulate-General, Chennai

The agreement for establishing the Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Chennai, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu, India was signed by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Chinese premier Li Keqiang, during Modi's three-day visit to China in May 2015 [1] The desire of China for a consulate in Chennai had been expressed by the Chinese Ambassador to India, Le Ching Chang. This consulate would help the many tourists from China come to the city of Chennai, which has heritage tourism locations. Moreover, there are 600 Chinese students in Tamil Nadu, more than in Delhi, and there are six Chinese industrial firms in the state.[2]
