Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (Japanese: サイバーパンク エッジランナーズ 2 Hepburn: Saibāpanku Edjirannāzu 2) is an upcoming cyberpunk original net animation (ONA) standalone sequel series to 2022's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Like its previous entry, the sequel is also based on Cyberpunk 2077 by Polish studio CD Projekt Red, which in turn is based on the Cyberpunk universe by Mike Pondsmith.
Production
The sequel series was first teased during a "Geeked Week" livestream in September 2024, though Trigger wasn't mentioned by name at the time, and the project had no official title to speak of.[1] It wasn't until a panel at Anime Expo in July 2025 that CD Projekt Red formally announced Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, confirming that the majority of the original creative staff would be returning for the follow-up.[2][3]
The sequel marks the directorial debut of Kai Ikarashi, who steps into the role for the first time on this project. He is joined by Ichigo Kanno as lead character designer, with Masahiko Otsuka returning to pen the script and Bartosz Sztybor serving as producer.[3] Sztybor will additionally take on the role of showrunner, overseeing the series' overall creative direction.[2]
