Lempo aka Mike McGuinness (born 8 June 1983) is a British house music DJ, producer, and radio host.[1]

Mike attended The University of Salford 2003-2006, where he studied Graphic Design. During his time at Salford, Mike began his residency at the world-renowned Sankeys nightclub in Manchester, for event brand Bitch, which re-located to Venus The Club in 2010. After his time at University, Mike had a brief stint hosting The Lempo & Carr Show, alongside co-host Jono Carr, on Cheshire FM from 2006-2008, he later joined Unity Radio FM to host The Bitch Show every Friday night until stepping down in 2014.[2][3][4][5]

Lempo plays at Ibiza after full seasons in 2012, 2013 & 2014. He is a regular fixture on the UK festival circuit, performing at Mint Festival 2012, 2013 & 2014, The Parklife Weekender 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015, The Wickerman 2010 & 2011. In 2010 Lempo was voted Manchester’s number one DJ in a vote open to the public on ‘The DJ List’.[6][7][8][9]

Lempo’s success has seen him tour the world, performing shows for major brands including Ministry Of Sound, Cream, Pacha, The Warehouse Project, Gatecrasher and Hed Kandi, allowing Lempo the honour of supporting household names such as Snoop Dogg, The Prodigy, Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Rudimental, Disclosure, Swedish House Mafia, Steve Aoki and Skrillex.[10][11][12][13]

Music Production[edit]

In early 2015 ‘Woo Yeah’ was released on Applique Music, scoring Lempo his second JunoDownload #1 and peaked at #82 on Beatport. Lempo also released the Summer hit ‘Making Love’ on Applique Music, featuring a vocal from X-Factor finalist Barry James Thomas - going straight in at #1 on JunoDownload, #20 in the Music Week Club Chart and #32 on Beatport.[14][15][16]

In 2014, ‘Playboy Bunny’ was released on Applique Music, with Artful featuring Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson on vocals, reached #1 on JunoDownload and #54 on iTunes, supported on Capital FM and BBC Radio One.[17][18]

In 2013, Lempo released an album of collaborations with Japwow on Applique Music, entitled ‘Done & Dusted’ which featured artists such as house legend’s K-Klass on ‘Brass Attack’ and Dirtybird’s Will Clarke on ‘Sound of The Horns’.[19]

In early 2012 ‘Boston Boogie’ was released on Applique Music, with Will Gold and Japwow, becoming Lempo’s first #1 as it hit the Trackitdown top spot and #24 on Beatport. 2012 also saw the release of ‘Jazz Hands’ on Canadian imprint DBR Recordings and 'Organ Grinder’ being released on CR2 Records.[20][21]

In 2011, the single ‘Jack in Boots’ was released on SuSu Music, featuring vocals from Nancy Sinatra, reaching #13 in The Music Week Club Chart and #36 on Beatport, plugged on Capital FM, BBC 6Music and BBC Radio One.[22][23][24]

In 2010, ‘The Best Times’ was released on Looking Glass Recordings, with Brazilian chanteuse Angelita Jimenez as featured vocalist, reaching #2 on Trackitdown and #3 on Traxsource, supported by Eric Morillo and Roger Sanchez, with multiple plugs on Capital FM.[25]

In 2009, Lempo released his debut EP ‘The Death of Micky Fidget’ on Wonked Records, supported by Kissy Sell Out and Laidback Luke.[26][27]

Applique Music[edit]

In Summer 2011, Lempo launched his own recording imprint, Applique Muisc which is fast-becoming one of the most respectable UK house labels.[28][29][30]
