Eghosa Nehikhare is a Nigerian businessman. He is the co-founder and CEO of Multigate, a Fintech company that provides instant cross-border funds transfer, and advanced treasury and cash management to businesses and individuals within and outside of Africa. His father initially disowned him for not completing his full medical studies in the United Kingdom.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Eghosa was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, before moving to the United Kingdom where he completed his secondary and tertiary education. Before relocating to the UK, Nehikhare represented his birth country, Nigeria in the 2008 International Young Physicists Tournament in Seoul, South Korea.
After obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Health and Human Sciences from the University of Durham, Eghosa proceeded to Oxford University, Saïd Business School for further studies.[2]
Career[edit]
Venture Garden Group[edit]
After graduating from the University of Durham, Eghosa Nehikhare moved to Lagos and worked at Africa Courier Express (ACE), where he helped them build their food delivery service within the span of eleven months to become one of the largest food delivery providers in Nigeria back in 2015. In 2016, he joined Venture Garden Group (VGG) as a vice president, and a year later became the General Manager and intrapreneur.
Multigate[edit]
Alongside his business partner, Bukunmi Demuren, Eghosa Nehikhare founded Multigate in 2017 and serves as company CEO. He founded Multigate after he realized that there were no Financial Technology companies that provided solutions to the challenges experienced by large corporate enterprises in Nigeria and Africa at large. It was evident that the major FinTechs — though very successful at it — provided solutions to small and medium enterprises and e-Commerce giants, particularly in the aspect of payment collections. As such, this market [payment collections] was a red ocean for Multigate. To this end, both Eghosa and Bukunmi decided that they wanted their company to focus on providing financial technology solutions to large enterprise corporates, particularly with the aim to simplify treasury management and cross-border payments for these organizations operating in Africa.[3]
In April 2022, newspapers in Kenya and Nigeria reported that Multiage was involved in money laundering between the two African countries.[4]The firm, however, denied the allegation and described the report as a malicious attack from unknown parties.[5][6]
Personal life[edit]
Not much is known about the public life of the entrepreneur. He is currently a Master of Business Administration student at Oxford University
