Five Night's at Freddy's Security Breach is an upcoming 2020 nonlinear survival horror video game developed by Steel Wool Studios and published by ScottGames. It is the eighth installment of the Five Nights at Freddy's video game series and is chronologically set after the events of the seventh game. Unlike other installments, the game takes place in a mall, while other installments typically take place in a pizzeria. The game will release in late 2020 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game may also be released on other systems at least three months after its initial release.

On August 8, 2020, Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon posted a teaser on his main website showing an 80s-style mall pizzeria with four animatronic characters performing to a crowd. The image shows possible locations in the game such as a laser tag arena, an arcade, and a cinema. The animatronics performing appear to be a mix of new and familiar characters, unlike most other locations that have the main group of Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox. In the source code of the image, it reveals a conversation reminiscent of a similar conversation held in the previous game.
On August 19, 2019 Scott posted a ,,Upcoming Projects Mega-Thread!'' which featured future games and the ones that are already done. While some of them have their titltes released, a game had ,,???'' as its title and ,,ETA'' 2020. Later it has been revealed to be this game
During this time, the game was teased with several teasers featuring the animatronics; on September 29 2019 we saw Freddy Fazbear's sillhoutte. The image was later updated to a shadowy figure. On March 24, 2020, a new teaser showed a alligator animatronic, being the first time in the franchise where a character is based on a reptile. If the files are opened with notepad we see plenty of texts which show us details about the animatronics and possibly the main villian. The texts are ,, Glamrock_Fred_Poster'' for the first photo with Freddy, the second one reads ,,Shadow_of_Vanny'' and the third one with the reptile animatronics reads ,,Glamrock Monty''
On April 21, 2020, Funko leaked some products they are about to release, and between some of them was FNAF, it's title being ,,PizzaPlex''. The names of the characters were revealed also, including the wolfs from the first teaser, her name being ,,Roxanne the Wolf''. Scott later that day deconfirmed the title, saying that the title was just for Funko.
On April 24, 2020, a 2020-2021 calendar was discovered on Amazon. Dis lead to rumors that the game will be revealed on the day the calendar will be released, however Scott Cawthon revealed that the game will be finished on late 2020. The calendar revealed renders of Glamrock Freddy, Montgomery Gator and Roxanne Wolf.
On May 5, 2020, a new teaser appeared featuring the logo of the next game, along with the title- Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. Behind the franchise logo, police LED light bars were seen as indicated by the red and blue tints.
On June 11, 2020, scottgames.com was updated to show a female guard who will possibly play an important role in the game, or just be a secondary character. The message ,,Protect’’ can be seen. Scott Cawthon also mentioned on Reddit that Steel Wool is working on the game, that the game will be released in late 2020 and that is actually good news, due to the Covid19 pandemy.
On August 7, 2020 a day earlier from Five Nights at Freddy’s 1 birthday the image was updated with the full body of Vanny staying in a room full of monitors, similar to the one Freddy is in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted Teaser. The message ,,Obey’’ can be seen like in the one with the female guard. It is worth noting that Vanny's mask looks completely different from the mask we see in FNAF Help Wanted
On September 16, 2020, the teaser trailer was launched during the PlayStation 5 Showcase event. The video shows a couple of new rooms and inside the mall restaurant, as well as instituting a new animatronic who looks like a moon. During the inspections a sun animatronic was also discovered. At the end the game was revealed to be ,,Playstation’’ exclusive, being available to PC, PlayStation 4 and Playstation 5 with other consoles being available after 3 months. With the release date not revealed, the game will most likely be available on 12th November 2020 after the Playstation 5 will be launched.
