Activism and detentions[edit]
Gilaman formerly resided and worked in the city of Riffa in Bahrain. On 6 February 2020, which was a week after his protest for the release of PTM's leader Manzoor Pashteen, Gilaman was arrested by the Bahraini security authorities based on an Interpol notice against him.[2][1][3] On 8 March, he was deported from Bahrain and sent to Multan Airport in Punjab, Pakistan, where he was allegedly abducted and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani intelligence agency officials.[4][5][6] On 13 March, he was released from Bannu jail.[7]
On 5 May 2020, Gilaman was arrested by the police in Bannu along with three other PTM activists, including Nadeem Askar, during protests against the assassination of one of the leaders of PTM, Arif Wazir.[8]
