Greg Willsey (born September 25, 1978) is an American entrepreneur. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Venice Brands, a consumer brands holding company based in Venice, CA. He has created several consumer branded companies, often with partners, including Joolies, Kinderfarms, Enroot, Mayweather Boxing+Fitness, and Only Skin.
Early life and education[edit]
Willsey was born in Hartford, CT. He attended Wake Forest University and graduated with a B.S. in Business from the Calloway School of Business (summa cum laude) in 2001. He also graduated from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School in 2008 (both with distinction).[1][2]
Early career[edit]
Willsey began his career at McKinsey & Company in its Los Angeles office in 2001 as a Business Analyst. He then worked in partnership marketing for U.S. Airways from 2003 through 2004. After completing graduate school, he returned to McKinsey & Company where he worked as an Engagement Manager, focusing on the consumer packaged goods, media & entertainment, and private equity sectors.[1][3]
In 2012, he joined The Wonderful Company as a Director of Strategy and M&A, and he was later promoted to CFO and COO of POM Wonderful, a subsidiary of The Wonderful Company and the largest grower and processor of pomegranates and related products worldwide. From 2015 to 2018, he helped launch Monogram Capital, a consumer and retail focused private equity firm, where he served as a partner and member of the investment committee.[4][5][1]
Venice Brands[edit]
In 2016, Willsey launched Venice Brands where he continues to serve as the Chief Executive Officer. He has also created several new consumer branded companies, often with partners. He created Joolies alongside Kohl Family Farms, which grows and processes date fruit in the United States and sells products under three distinct brands: Joolies, The Date Shoppe, and Desert Valley Date.[6][7] He created Kinderfarms alongside Jessica Biel and Jeremy Adams, which is a kinder kind of “pharmaceutical” company that provides alternatives to existing health and wellness products for families.[8][9] He created Enroot alongside Brad Pitt, Cristina Patwa, John Fogelman, and the James Beard Foundation, which sells five beverage blends that pay homage to Patwa’s grandmother and her legacy as a farmer and food entrepreneur in the Philippines.[10] He created Mayweather Boxing + Fitness alongside Floyd Mayweather, James Williams and FitLab, which is a fitness and boxing experience group with franchised locations across the United States and overseas.[11] He created Only Skin, which sells three premium men’s skincare kits on its website and also on Amazon.[12]
