Harvey Moeis
Harvey Moeis (born 30 November 1985) is an Indonesian businessman and actor, known as the husband of actress Sandra Dewi. In March 2024, he was named as suspect in a case involving alleged criminal acts of corruption in the trading system of tin commodities in mining business permit areas which cost Indonesia Rp. 271 trillion.

Early life[edit]
Moeis was born on 30 November 1985 in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, as one of the six children of Irma Silviani and Hayong Moeis.[1][2] He had four brothers and a sister.[3] Moeis was of Papua, Ambon, and Makassar descent.[4] His father died from a cancer and he was then raised by his mother.[2]
Personal life[edit]
Moeis is married to Sandra Dewi, an actress, at Cathedral Church in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 8 November 2016 and was attended by Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.[4] Their reception was held at Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan, on 16 November and received a massive publicity.[4][1] They had two sons.[5]
Career[edit]
Moeis started his career as a coal entrepreneur in Bangka Belitung and controls several mines there.[4] He then served as President Commissioner at PT Multi Harapan Utama, a coal company.[4] Moeis also worked as an entrepreneur in the stock sector and controls shares in five companies, such as PT Refined Bangka Tin, CV Venus Inti Perkasa, PT Tinindo Inter Nusa, PT Sariwiguna Bina Sentosa and PT Stanindo Inti Perkasa.[4]
In the public, Moeis is more known as the husband of actress Sandra Dewi.[6] They starred together in Quickie Express (2007).[7] In 2021, he and his son became an ambassadors for Ferrari Roma.[6]
Public image[edit]
Moeis is known as one of the public figures who never shows off his wealth even though he has abundant assets, in the form of luxury houses, luxury cars and private jets.[7] In 2019, he draw a public attention after giving his son, Raphael, Moeis, a private jet for his birthday gift.[8]
Controversy[edit]
On 27 March 2024, Moeis was named as a suspect in alleged corruption in Izin Usaha Pertambangan (literally Mining Business License; IUP) of PT Timah Tbk.[9] From 2018 until 2019, he played a role in contacting the main director of PT Timah Tbk who had been named a suspect with the aim of accommodating the addition of illegal tin in the company's licensed area.[9] They then entered into a cooperation agreement to rent lead smelting maintenance.[9] Moeis also lobbied several other companies, such as PT SIP, CV VIP, PT SBS, and PT TIN, to assist him in carrying out the operation.[9] He then asked the smelter owners to set aside profits from the operation for personal interests and other suspects using the pretext of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).[9] The funds were then given by Moeis to PT QSE, which was facilitated by Helena Lim, a conglomerate who was also involved in the corruption case from 2015 until 2022.[9]
Moeis was arrested to Salemba State Detention Center in South Jakarta, Indonesia, and was imprisoned for 20 days.[10] His wife, Sandra Dewi, deactivated comment feature on her Instagram account after being attacked by Indonesian internet user to protect the privacy of their sons.[7] The Attorney General's Office of Indonesia noted that there was an ecological loss experienced by Indonesia amounting to Rp. 271 trillion due to a corruption case carried out by Moeis based on calculations from IPB University environmental expert, Bambang Hero Saharjo.[11]
