The Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) is an organization conducting Model United Nations conference that is run by an event management company called Aufklaren Event Management LLP and students from various parts of India. The Championship conference of IIMUN moves to a new venue each year and attracts over 3,000 school students from more than 10 countries, making it the Asia's largest youth conference. IIMUN will be conducting its first International conference in the United Nations headquarters in New York in August, 2016.[1]

Founded in 2012, IIMUN has traveled to more than 75 cities in India, including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Surat, Dharamshala, Guwahati where it conducts Model United Nations conferences calling them IIMUN Chapters.

IIMUN Chapters[edit]

IIMUN conducts its chapter conferences in schools across the country where they make students of that region to come together and discuss about National and International Issues.

In 2013, the Indian International Kolkata chapter took place in the Calcutta International School.[2] In 2014, the Kolhapur Chapter of IIMUN took place in the Kolhapur Institute of Technology.[3] The Indore Chapter of IIMUN took place at the Choithram International school in 2015.[4]

Conference Activities[edit]

  • Committee sessions
Participants are assigned to represent countries, ministers or unconventional portfolios in order to debate pressing international issues in a simulated session of various organizations. IIMUN divides all its committees into three organs:
The General Assembly consists of 193 member nations and has 6 councils within it namely:
   The First Committee: Disarmament and International Security (DISEC)
   The Second Committee: Economic and Financial (ECOFIN)
   The Third Committee: Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian (SOCHUM)
   The Fourth Committee: Special Political and Decolonisation (SPECPOL)
   The Fifth Committee: Administrative and Budgetary and general
   The Sixth Committee: Legal.


The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as the name suggests deals with issues of Social and Economic importance in the world.
Lok Sabha is the Indian parliament where all the topics of political importance in India are discussed.
United Nations Security council is one of the 6 primary organs of United Nations. It consists of 15 members out of which 5 are the permanent members and 10 are non permanent members.

IIMUN is scheduled to organize a conference in Nepal in June 2016.[23]

IIMUN is scheduled to organize a conference in Dubai in April 2016.[24]

USA[edit]

IIMUN will be organizing an MUN conference to celebrate the Independence Day of India within the United Nations headquarters with a delegation of 400 students from India participating in it.[25]
