Jason Steinhauer is the inaugural director of the Albert Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest at Villanova University.[1] He is a published writer, contributor to TIME, a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a member of the editorial board for The Washington Post's "Made By History" blog, and a Presidential Counselor of The National WWII Museum. He previously worked at The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress.[2]
Early life[edit]
Steinhauer received his B.A. from The George Washington University[3] and a Masters in History and Advanced Certificate of Archival Management from New York University.[4]
Career[edit]
Steinhauer was assistant curator at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, where he worked on the exhibit Ours to Fight For: American Jews in the Second World War.[5] The exhibit was awarded the American Alliance of Museums' Grand Prize for Excellence in Exhibitions in 2004.[6]
Steinhauer worked at the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, the nation's largest oral history project.[7]
Steinhauer managed communications and programs for the John W. Kluge Center, the scholars center inside the Library of Congress.[2]
Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest[edit]
In December 2016, Villanova University announced that Steinhauer would serve as the first director of the Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest.[8] The Center was created through a $10 million gift from businessman Albert Lepage, a Villanova alumnus.[9]
Foreign Policy Research Institute[edit]
In October 2017, it was announced that Steinhauer would become a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a think tank in Philadelphia, while continuing to serve as director of the Lepage Center.[10]
