Johnny Gold is a fictional English footballer who played as a forward. He is considered as one of the best players ever in fictional street football. By 1993 he had scored approx 400 goals, calculating documented goals before 1989.
Gold and Berti Niol are the only players to have a special dedicated to them (Gold had two).
Career
Club
After being top scorer in the 3-Nation European Cup in 1988, Gold was loaned from Rangers to Italian Reggio for the 1988 Intercontinental Cup Final and was the Man of the match. He also played in the Coupe des Europees 1989 Final with Romeo, winning it. He was acquired from Stefford Street in 1989 to enter the new era. In 1990 he was loaned to NA City and won the double and also played in the Clubs Mundial (Replica) finishing 4rth (12 teams).
National team
Gold was called up to the England national team for the 1990 Mundo and the 1992 Europeo.
Style of play
Legacy
Gold played in the WFU World Cup in 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2010. He finally won it (as a sub) in 2010 with Polmer. He never won a UEFA competition, but won the European Golden Boot a record 5 times.
By 2008 he wwas below 500 documented goals by FIFA, having scored less than 100 between 1993 and 2000 when retired. Given that Stefford Street won promotion in 2008 he decided to return to reach the 500-goal milestone which he succeeded between 2008 and 2011.
Personal life
He was single for years, with rumours going on that he was gay.
