"Kimmy Goes to the Doctor!" is the fourth episode of the first season of the American streaming television sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The episode premiered in the United States on Netflix on March 6, 2015. The show's teleplay was written by Jack Burditt and Tina Fey, the latter being one of the show's creators. "Kimmy Goes to the Doctor!" was directed by Tristam Shapeero.
In this episode, Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) and Jaqueline Voorhees (Jane Krakowski) visit Dr. Sydney Franff (Martin Short) to get plastic surgery. Meanwhile, Kimmy's roommate Titus Andromedon (Titus Burgess) gets a new agent and auditions for the musical Spidermen Too: Too Many Spidermen.
Plot[edit]
Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) finds a TV on the street outside of her home and her roommate Titus Andromedon (Titus Burgess) sees his acting nemesis, Coriolanus Burt (James Monroe Iglehart) on a law series. He explains that Coriolanus stole Titus' spotlight during his audition for an all-black production of Oklahoma! titled Alabama! Kimmy also receives a phone call from her friend Cyndee Pokorny (Sara Chase) who is asking to visit. Cyndee explains that she received a letter on Barbie stationary and Kimmy realizes that Titus sent it. Titus explains that he wants Kimmy to get help and that he thought Cyndee could help. Later, Titus sees a news article that there is an open call for the musical Spidermen Too: Too Many Spidermen, a sequel to Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, after six actors became injured. Titus' landlady Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane) convinces him to get new headshots and go to the audition. However, when he arrives, Coriolanus sees Titus and laughs at the fact that he is at an open call audition. Titus returns home, too embarrassed to audition, and Kimmy convinces him to go down to a talent agency and get Titus represented. He signs on with an agent, Josh (Jason Babinsky), who gets Titus an audition for Spidermen Too. The audition goes terribly as Titus can not dance and gets hurt in a flying rig. However, on his way out, he sees Coriolanus waiting to audition, showing that he is no luckier at getting work than Titus.
At the Voorhees' residence, Jaqueline (Jane Krakowski) tells Kimmy that she has to get a photo ID for picking Jaqueline's son Buckley (Tanner Flood) up from his school. After they take a selfie together, Kimmy finally sees what she looks like and asks to go with Jaqueline to her plastic surgery appointment with Dr. Sydney Franff (Martin Short). At the medical office, Dr. Franff notices Kimmy's skin and sees "scream lines" on her face. After Titus' agent recognizes her, she realizes that she wants a new face so she can become a new personality. She meets with Dr. Franff and begins to hallucinate and runs out of the room to speak to the other women waiting in the lobby. However, as she is high on laughing gas, she is merely speaking gibberish to the patients. Kimmy returns to the Voorhees' house and tells Jaqueline that getting plastic surgery will not fix her insecurities and marital problems. Jaqueline agrees to go to China in the morning and confront her husband Julian. Kimmy also calls Cyndee back and formally invites her to come to New York and stay with her and Titus.
