Kjell Flekkoy

Kjell Flekkøy (born 1 December 1939) is professor emeritus of clinical neuropsychology at the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital Ullevål, Norway. His primary areas of research and clinical work have been within psychiatry (schizophrenia, primarily), cognitive psychology, and neuropsychology. Within the latter discipline, he established and headed the Department of Neuropsychology at Oslo University Hospital Ullevål. Abroad, he initiated and supervised a nationwide, longitudinal study of head trauma effects in Iceland.

He was a postdoctoral scholar with the late Prof. Erik H. Lenneberg at Cornell University, a visiting researcher at Lund University, Sweden, and a visiting professor at the University of Perth, Western Australia, and the University of Odense, Denmark; departments of psychiatry. His present work deals with the nature of qualia, the subjective aspects of consciousness, aiming at a physically complete description of the mind–brain interaction.
