The Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition (LKYGBPC), established in 2001.[1][2][3], is a biennial university startup challenge organized by the Singapore Management University (SMU). The competition is open to students or recent alumni from any university.

Notable past winners include Beijing Based Biomaterials startup Bluepha, which raised a total of US$277M ; Evisort, a law tech startup that raised over US$100M[4], Iterative Health which offers machine learning and computer vision to interpret endoscopic images and solutions for clinical trial optimization and AI documentation. The company has to-date raised US$195 million in funding[5] to date.

The most recent edition of LKYGBPC has been mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat for its role in attracting deep tech startups to Singapore[6][7]. One such startup is PlasticFri from Sweden, the winner of the 11th LKYGBPC. PlasticFri is currently in discussions with NTUC Fairprice to pilot their products in Singapore.[8] The global funding winter contributed to rising popularity of the competition in Asia.[9]
