M. S. Pillai was an Indian academic. He served as the founder-director of the Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune, Maharashtra from 1993 to 2004. He died due to a heart attack on 5 January 2019.[citation needed]

Biography[edit]

M. S. Pillai, born in Puliyoor in the present-day state of Kerala, was a son of P. S. Madhavan Pillai and P. K. Padmavathi Pillai. His son is the author, Manu S. Pillai, who has won accolades for his books 'The Ivory Throne' and 'Rebel Sultans'.

SCMHRD and SCMLD[edit]

Pillai was the Founder Director of Sadhana Centre for Management & Leadership Development (SCMLD) in Pune, India. In 1993, he conceptualized and established SCMHRD (Symbiosis Centre for Management & Human Resource Development) for Symbiosis, on offering the opportunity to create a brand new institute free from restrictions (license raj) by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, the President of the Symbiosis Society.
