ManyChat is a marketing automation and chatbot platform founded by Mikael Yan and Antony Gorin in 2015.[1][2] The platform provides tools to create chatbots – without code, on channels like Messenger, SMS, email, Instagram and WhatsApp.[3][4][5][6] Headquartered in San Francisco, California.

History[edit]

ManyChat began in 2015 when Mikael Yan and Antony Gorin launched Manybot, a no-code chatbot platform for Telegram.[7] In December 2015, Manybot was accepted into the 500 Startups accelerator program.[8][4]

In 2016, Facebook launched its chatbot API for Messenger; Manybot was converted into the ManyChat platform for creating bots on Messenger by Facebook.[4] Then, in May 2016, ManyChat for Facebook Messenger launched on Product Hunt.[9]

According to the company, in 2019, Manychat had 800,000 Facebook business pages from over 170 countries that were connected to chatbots and had over 500 million active users.[10][11]

In 2019, ManyChat raised $18M in Series A Funding from Bessemer Venture Partners and Flint Capital.[1]

In 2019, ManyChat added support for email and SMS channels.[12]

In 2019, ManyChat was ranked as the "fastest-growing app" by Zapier.[2]

In 2019, ManyChat launched a mobile app for its live chat functionality.[12]

In 2020, ManyChat partnered with the CDC to create a chatbot that automates the sharing of educational materials – including updates and preventative tips about COVID-19 – using Messenger.[13]

In October 2020, ManyChat announced support for Instagram and WhatsApp.[6][5]

The platform provides tools to create chatbots without programming.[3]
