Md. Shamsul Islam (Bengali: মোঃ সামছুল ইসলাম; born 23 October 1971) is a Bangladeshi entrepreneur, investor, stockbroker, and businessperson.[1] He is the chairman and CEO of ten companies, including Be Rich Limited,[2] the first online trading brokerage house in Bangladesh and one of the leading brokerage house of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE),[3] and Be Fresh Limited, countries one of the leading travel company.[4][5] He is a fellow member (FCA academic) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), and former director of Chittagong Stock Exchange Limited.[6][3][7]
He received IIUC Entrepreneurship Award for his special contribution to the business field in 2017 by International Islamic University Chittagong.[8][9][10]
Early life and education[edit]
Md. Shamsul Islam was born on 23 October 1971 in Chittagong, Bangladesh.[5] He passed the Matriculation examination (now Secondary School Certificate) holding fifth place in 1989 from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Comilla.[5] He took first-class second place in Bachelor of Commerce from National University, Bangladesh. After he got a Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing.[3]
Business career[edit]
Islam has more than ten years of working experience in the Bangladesh capital market. He has previously worked with Berger Paints (BD) Limited, James Finlay Bangladesh and KDS Group. He also served as a Director of Chittagong Stock Exchange Limited (CSE).
He runs ten business companies under a parent company called X Limited[5] in various sectors including share broker, travel agency, e-commerce, educational, currency exchange, property development, and industrial establishments. He serves as the Chairman and CEO of the following companies.[3]
