Staver received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California Baptist University and a master's degree in Psychological Counseling from National University in San Diego[8] which led him to further his experience and knowledge of emotional issues in a working industry and using it to create his own approach of doing business in tougher markets.[2]

In 2008, his book, Do You Know How To Shut Up?, was recommended in Pat Riley's Top 1O(ish) Recommended Reads.[10] The book has also been reviewed and discussed in other magazines and news sources crediting the book's lessons as key points for improvement of business communication.[11]
