Mold Busters is a company that specializes in mold inspections, removal and remediation. The company was founded in 2005 in Ottawa, Canada, with a mission to protect its clients from environmental dangers like toxic black mold and asbestos.

History[edit]

Mold Busters is a Canadian-owned mold remediation company founded in 2005 as a family business in Ottawa, Canada. In 2009 Mold Busters opened its first international office in Singapore. Further expansion throughout Asia happened in 2010 with an open office in Malaysia, and in 2016 in the Philippines. Finally, in 2014 Mold Busters expanded into rural areas of Canada to cover all the territories of provinces Ontario and Quebec.[1]

In 2019 the company launched InstaLab, an open-source platform which aims to identify mold from a photograph.[1][2]

InstaLab[edit]

In order to speed up the process of identifying type of mold, the company has launched an open-source project called InstaLab. The goal of this project is to create a machine learning mold detection system that would skip the step of laboratory testing, eliminating human error factor and offering instant specification of fungi based on a high-resolution image of a sample material. [1]

Platform is currently in beta phase and so far Stachybotrys genus is identified, as well as the most common 50 genera of mold during inspections, testing and remediation services. [2]
