MusicForNormies is an American music project started by Violet Sage (guitarist, drummer, vocalist) and Allison NoLastName in 2021. The band currently consists of only Violet Sage. The band was formed during the early era of a genre called innacore in the wake of the release of Cell Hell by Gromit Inna Box, a major influence on the band's early sound. The band has to date released 7 studio albums and one compilation.

History[edit]

MusicForNormies was formed in early June 2021, originally being named Pingu Inna Container. The lineup consisted of Allison NoLastName, Violet Sage, UDPJ, Danzig, and Jman. This lineup was changed very shortly after the release of debut LP "Bonk!", adding more members like Sir. Fruity and afila. Soon after the name change to MusicForNormies, the band released another release, "Raid Of The Non-Normie Mall!" in July of 2021. Less than a month later a string of EPs released over the course of 2 months, 4 in total. Each EP was a segment of compilation record The Downfall Of CasioRobinson, released in September of 2021. After a quick little Christmas release, MusicForNormies released the first true difference in style since "Bonk!", "Exactly What You're Expecting From Me" was released on December 31st 2021. While as all past releases were very comedic and low effort, this release took a serious direction and featured the first songs entirely made by Allison. After the first side of the album closes, Sage takes the main stage again, mainly staying in the serious setting but switching that up for closer Terrible. After this release, a deluxe edition was released consisting of 2 tracks. The track "Cigarettes" was 11 minutes while "The Best Song Ever" clocked in at a whopping 43 minutes. This version of the record is what is on streaming services. After a long 2021, with many releases under their belt, some members were fired, while others left for themselves. this led to a decently stagnant year for the band, releasing only 1 album, "MusicForNormies". This record consisted of tracks from many different underground Innacore artists and would count as a compilation album without the good amount of original tracks. It returned to the sound before Exactly What You're Expecting From Me, while adding some heavier elements. After this, Music To Get Rejected To dropped a few months later, delving into the sound of Harsh Noise and avant-garde production. This record was the first to feature band CasioRobinson, whose main vocalist co-produced the self titled record. After 2022 passed, MusicForNormies were only getting more ambitious, coming up with the concept of an entirely instrumental album that would've been named "The Color Album" because of each tracks title being a different color. 3 singles were released for the project, and was released unfinished for about a day. The album was scrapped soon after this for being too ambitious for the skill level they were at. After cancelling The Color Album, they moved on to a different project, Troubleshooting. This would become the most concise and best MusicForNormies release thus far, with solid joke tracks and bad serious songs but better than usual. After this success, they dropped a bad cover album that went decently under the radar. After a few singles and a title for upcoming record(s) "Wolf/Bird", it has been silence for MusicForNormies, but luckily the first 2024 single, Fuck Mute Frank, was released in September of 2024.
