Santosh Mishra (1956 - 2019) was a sarangi player from Varanasi, India.[1]
Early life[edit]
Mishra was born in 1956 in a family of musicians in Varanasi. He started learning sarangi from his uncle Narayan Das Mishra and his father Bhagwan Das Mishra.
Career[edit]
Mishra was a staff artist on the Hindu University of Banaras and was one of Varanasi's most successful sarangi players. Along with his younger brother Vinod Kumar Mishra he was one of four sons of Bhagwan Das Mishra who played sarangi. Mishra also worked in Varanasi as an accompanist to many vocalists.[1]
Death[edit]
Mishra died in 2019 at the age of 63, while undergoing treatment in Lucknow.[2]
