Park Jeong-koo (Korean: 박정구; August 10, 1937 – July 13, 2002) was a prominent South Korean business leader who served as the second chairman of the Kumho Asiana Group from 1996 until his death in 2002.[1] He is widely recognized for his ethical leadership and for establishing the corporate philosophy of "Beautiful Management" (아름다운 경영) during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
Park was born in Gwangju as the second son of Park In-cheon, the founder of the Kumho Group. He graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School and earned a bachelor's degree in law from Chonnam National University.[2]
Park joined Kumho Asiana Group in 1960 and succeeded his older brother as Chairman in 1996.[2]
He served as a member of the board of directors for the Gwangju Biennale and was a major patron of the arts. For his contributions to the national economy, he was posthumously awarded the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, South Korea's highest honor for business leaders.
He died in July 13, 2002 from lung cancer.[3]
