Robert Pownall
Robert Pownall is a British perennial candidate and wildlife activist who founded the organisation Protect the Wild in 2015.
Electoral candancies
Pownall ran for the first time as a candidate in Edinburgh Central in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election. He campaigned while dressed up in a bird costume and called for the Scottish government to put a ban on guga hunting.[1]
Pownall is an independent candidate in the 2026 Makerfield by-election.[2] He announced he would campaign dressed as a fox, to put pressure on the British government over its commitments to ban hunting with hounds.[3]
