Early Life[edit]

It is known that they were a Brahmin family of Kanauj. The homestead was in Rajshahi of present day Bangladesh. Their family profession was advocacy. Grandfather and father were barristers. He moved to Calcutta at the age of 14 and later to Shyamnagar in North 24 Parganas district. After a few years, he was admitted to study medicine at R. G. Kar Medical College. He started writing books during his second year of medical school due to financial difficulties of his family.

Career (As a Writer)[edit]

Krishnachandra Gupta of the Publishers General Library, Upper Chittapur Road, started publishing Dipak Chatterjee's series. The author's pseudonym is Sri Swapankumar. These were published in the form of small books once a month at a cost of forty paise His books have also been published by Dev Sahitya Kutir, Mahesh Publications, Aditya Publications. Swapankumar's detective story is estimated to be more than one hundred.According to the publishers, Sriswapankumar's book of 48 to 65/68 pages was 'Hotcake', so they have published these. At one time he also went to Mumbai to earn money to write screenplays for movies. He returned without receiving any special honors or money. Many have compared his writings in the Sreeswapankumar series to those of American author Robert Leslie Bellam. [2]

As a Astrologer[edit]

The fact that Sriswapankumar became Srivrigu is also quite surprising. Even then, only Sriswapankumar, the author of the mystery story. Samarendranath was a generous, idealistic man. But he had respect and perseverance. That is one of the reasons why he started practicing astrology at one time. Once he went to the publisher to get the money owed. The publisher is leaving him to settle accounts with another author. He said impatiently, "Hey, I write too! Why are you sitting me down? "In response, the publisher said, "Hey, everyone can write a detective story. He wrote books on astrology and made a lot of money. He must be released first. That day he sat in the publisher's office and promised that one day he would learn astrology and show it. He was also with that. After learning astrology properly, he started practicing under the name of Srivrigu. He also wrote many books on astrology. Those books are still sold in the market. He is so famous in this profession that at one time, even Srivriguru had more than one fake in the market. Everyone was claiming in the advertisement, they are 'original and genuine'.[3]
