Sharanya Ari (ஷரண்யா அறி) is an IAS officer. She secured the seventh rank in All India Civil service examination conducted by UPSC in 2015[1] and first in Tamil Nadu. Because of her outstanding performance home cadre was allotted to her. She is an officer of the batch of 2016 from the Tamil Nadu cadre of Indian Administrative Service.[2]

Early life[edit]

Sharanya Ari was born in Thanjavur and hailing from Chennai.[3] Her father M. Arivazhagan is a retired Air Force officer and mother Sathya Priya is a government high school teacher, she did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Chennai[4] and completed B.Tech in Information Technology from SRM University, Chennai in 2012.[5][6] Sharanya Ari married to Vishwesh B Shastri, an IPS from Tamil Nadu.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Sharanya Ari began her career in 2018 as an Assistant Secretary in Ministry of Culture, Government of India.[7] After that take over as Sub Collector in Ambattur [8] and later transferred to Padmanabhapuram Sub Division, Kanyakumari district.[9][10] On 1 February 2021 she got transferred to Thoothukudi as commissioner of Thoothukudi City Municipal Corporation. In June 2021, she was made the Greater Chennai Corporation's Regional Deputy Commissioner (Central).[11]

As per the new transfer of positions of IAS Officers as of Nov 10, 2021, She is posted as Deputy Secretary to Government, School Education Department.
