History[edit]

Spirit of Youth Junior Football Club are a Football club based in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. The club was founded in 1977.[1]

Ground[edit]

As a club they play their home games at Common Edge, their home since 1977. They have changing facilities with toilets and there is often a takeaway van selling hot food and drinks. Common Edge has its own car park which can accommodate approximately 50 cars. The post code is FY4 5FH and this is easily accessible from Queensway, School Road and Common Edge Road depending on where you are travelling from. The football pitches are at the back of the Blackpool Airport runway.

The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership was granted an Enterprise Zone in 2016 and the masterplan includes plans for a purpose built Sports Village. This is planned to consist of two large 3G football pitches and at least 6 natural grass pitches for multiple sport usage. There are also plans for the Sports Village to include a indoor facilities, changing blocks and function rooms. Work is expected to begin late 2018 as part of the new thru-road which links from Queensway to Amy Johnson Way, and the Sports Village is expected to be functional by 2020/21.[2]
