The Brothers Sun is an upcoming dark action comedy television series created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu for Netflix.[4][5]

Premise[edit]

The life of average Californian Bruce Sun turned upside down once his older brother, Charles Sun visits Los Angeles, California from Taipei, Taiwan. Having no recollection of his past in Taipei, Bruce would soon learn about his families' profession as Taipei renowned gangster with his brother being a hardened criminal raised by his late crime boss father. Having his father assassinated, Charles had to move to LA to keep his families safe. Additionally, he would find out that his mother moved with him to California in order to build a life away from her estranged family. However, his mother's effort proved to be futile as now Bruce had to adapt to the gangster life of his family.[6][7][8]

Development[edit]

On February 2, 2022, it was revealed that Netflix ordered the production of The Brothers Sun created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu as a part of Falchuk's eight-figure deal with Netflix with both creators serve as executive producers and Falchuk as the showrunner.[4][6][7][9] Alongside Wu and Falchuk, Mikkel Bondesen and Kevin Tancharoen would join as the executive producers. The series would consists of 8 episodes with Wu set to write the story and Tancharoen set to direct the series.[4][7][9][10]

Casting[edit]

On June 13, 2022, the casts were revealed as Michelle Yeoh and Justin Chien took the leading roles as Eileen Sun and Charles Sun respectively.[4][7][10][11] Joining the main casts would be Sam Song Li as Bruce Sun, Highdee Kuan as Alexis and Joon Lee as TK.[7][8][11] Other casts who took recurring roles are Alice Hewkin, Jon Xue Zhang, Madison Hu, Rodney Tu, and Jenny Yang.[8][11] Later it was also revealed that Maite Garcia would join the casts in some capacity.[5]

Filming[edit]

On July 26, 2022, it was revealed that the principal photography began on June 13, 2022.[5] The filming process took place on Los Angeles, California and Taipei City, Taiwan for three months.[6][12] The shooting is expected to wrap on September 23, 2022.[5]
