The Probe is an independent digital news media organisation founded by Indian investigative journalist Prema Sridevi.The Probe's mission is to apply the brakes of conscience on the breaking news aspect of Journalism and tell stories that matter to people credibly and responsibly. The Probe is one of India's first such digital news media platforms that has highlighted the importance of Slow Journalism and the need to UnBreak the news to the audience[1]
Background[edit]
Prema Sridevi worked in Times Now from 2005 to 2016. She joined Times Now in June 2005 prior to the channel's launch on 23 January 2006 in partnership with Reuters. She worked as the Bureau Chief of the Kerala bureau of Times Now until 2010 after which she moved to the TV channel's Delhi NCR division. In 2016, she resigned from Times Now as the News Editor to join Republic TV. She was designated as the Editor, News and Special Projects and Head of Special Investigations Team at Republic TV. She resigned from Republic TV in 2019 to start her own independent news media venture. By mid-2019, she launched her company Fourth Estate Newscorp Private Limited. On 15 August 2020, she launched the name of her digital news media brand - The Probe. On 7 April 2021, The Probe's digital news platform was launched.[2]
The Probe does not submit to any external ideologies or groups whether political, corporate or cultural. Their editorial policy is to keep journalism free from the pressures of advertisement based revenues. The thrust is on a constructive discourse that facilitates impact and focuses on solutions journalism.[3]
