The Theory of 5 is an Amazon #1 best-selling self-help and motivational book written by Chris Saraceno. The book focuses upon the philosophy that a person “becomes the average of the five people closest to them” through mentors in different areas that contribute most to the prosperity in their life. These areas include Spirituality, Marriage, Parenting, Business and Finance, and Health and Fitness.[1]
Saraceno said, in regards to the book title: “you become the average of the five people you surround yourself with.” [2]
Background[edit]
The Theory of 5 was self-published and released on Amazon on May 24, 2018. Saraceno said this book was influenced by the experiences he had with people who shaped him into a successful business executive. He was inspired to create The Theory of 5 partially by tragedies that occurred in his life within a two-year span, and also as tributes to his strongest personal mentors. Among these mentors includes Robert Plarr, fitness expert and former owner of Allentown, PA-based amusement park Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. [3]
Saraceno used The Theory of 5 to teach and mentor managers in the automotive industry on autosuccessonline.com. He also went on an episode of the Haydenfilms Verge podcast to discuss his book and the origins of his philosophy in greater detail.
Synopsis[edit]
Saraceno shares how to find coaches, teachers, and friends who can walk with us through life. “Iron sharpens iron”, Saraceno said. “By challenging others and having them challenge us, we can bring out the best in each other and achieve the goals we could only dream of before.” [4]
In addition, Saraceno stresses the philosophy of seeking the guidance of one's mentors and not having to endure personal struggles alone. He said, “By seeking out those who have achieved what we dream of having in various areas of our lives and then asking them for guidance, we can build our own path to happiness and prosperity.”
Haydenfilms 1.0 Screenwriting Competition[edit]
The Theory of 5 became the creative essence behind the inaugural Haydenfilms 1.0 Screenwriting Competition. The competition, entitled The Adaptation of The Theory of 5, is open to any genre, inspired by the core philosophies of the book for the narrative of the story.[5]
