Tidecoin is an anonymous open-source project developed with the purpose of upgrading the Bitcoin Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) to Falcon-512[1], a quantum-resistant signature algorithm, to maintain a high level of security and the value of cryptocurrency even in the age of quantum computer.[2]
History
Tidecoin was created by an anonymous developer, similar to Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, and was first announced on BitcoinTalk in January 2021.[3] Currently, development is centered on developers using the nickname Yaroslav[4] in the official Tidecoin Telegram community.
In April 2021, the Tidecoin community created tidecoin.exchange, a dedicated exchange for smooth transactions between Tidecoin holders or miners. In addition, for the convenience of transactions for BSC (Binance Smart Chain) users, WTDC (Wrapped Tidecoin) was created on July 7, 2021 through BSC, enabling transactions on tidecoin.exchange and Pancake Swap. In December 2021, Tidecoin's web wallet and beta version mobile wallet were released.
Features
Tidecoin is mined with 100% CPU PoW (Proof of work), with a total issuance of 21,000,000 TDC and a block time of 60 seconds.
Halving Time
Tidecoin's halving time (mining amount is reduced to 1/4) is designed to be 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 4 years, 8 years… The reason for the decrease is because it is designed to similarly match the supply of Bitcoin and Tidecoin in 2025, when the developer's quantum computer shock is expected.
Quantum Resistance
The secure signature algorithm Falcon-512 adopted by Tidecoin is a quantum-resistant signature algorithm and is one of the two final selection round algorithms of the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).[5] Currently, this algorithm is being used or considered for use not only in Tidecoin, but also in other cryptocurrencies and software.[6][7][8]
Exchange
Tidecoin can also be traded on a dedicated exchange created by the Tidecoin community called tidecoin.exchange. On this exchange, it is possible to buy some types of quantum-resistant cryptocurrencies, including Tidecoin, via Dogecoin (DOGE) or Binance Coin (BNB) or Tether (USDT).[9]
