Toni Leys (born January 30, 1988 in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine composer, sound designer and mastering engineer. He is best known for his work in the video game industry, where he has created music and sounds for a variety of titles.

Biography[edit]

Leys was born and raised in Burzaco, Buenos Aires, Argentina by a family of musicians. As a kid, he studied music and later on his education turned to multimedia audio and music production studying at the National University of Lanús.[1]

He started to release music online in 2014 and in 2015 he started working for Lemonchili Games[2], where he composed and designed music and sound for Floyd's Sticker Squad, Toni's first full videogame work.[3]

In 2015 he released an album compatible with Sega Genesis hardware called Blast Processor[4], it was composed in specialized software (Deflemask and VGM Music Maker). The compiled ROM can be run in an emulator or in the actual hardware by using a flash cartridge.[5]

In 2016 Toni Leys and Sr Pelo collaborated on an animation project that was later canceled.[6]

In 2019 he began working with Bits Rule Games in the development of an original game fully compatible with Sega Genesis hardware called Phantom Gear[7]

In 2020 he worked with Interabang Entertainment composing the chiptune soundtrack for Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl[8], an officially licensed game released for Nintendo hardware and ported to Steam, Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.[9][10]

His videogame music arrangements have been featured in several episodes of the YouTube show Extra Credits.[11][12][13]

In 2021 his single Through A Cardboard World was featured in the ID@Xbox - Twitch Gaming Showcase Livestream.[14]

In 2022 his release Pokémon RGBY Remix hit number 13 in the TikTok Weekly Top 20 chart from Billboard JAPAN.[15]

In 2023 Toni Leys continues to work on a variety of videogame projects that have not yet been released or announced.[16][17]
