Vishal Malik (born 12 March 1989, New Delhi) is an Indian film actor, theatre performer, and social advocate. He is known for his dedication to artistic expression, disciplined approach to acting, and commitment to socially conscious storytelling. He is a professionally trained actor, having pursued his formal training in acting at the prestigious Whistling Woods International Institute, where he studied under the distinguished guidance of Shernaz Patel, Head of the Department of Acting. During his formative years, he further honed his craft under the mentorship of eminent artists Jameel Khan and Harmender Bhatia.
The Institute, promoted by renowned Indian filmmaker Subhash Ghai, Mukta Arts, and Film City Mumbai, has consistently been recognized internationally. In July 2014, The Hollywood Reporter listed Whistling Woods among “The Best Film Schools in the World,” having previously ranked it among the top 10 film schools globally in 2010. This strong academic foundation gave Vishal the artistic depth and technical discipline to bring authenticity and sensitivity to his performances on screen.
Family
Vishal Malik was born into a family with a rich legacy of public service and leadership. He is the son of Ch. Dharampal Singh Malik and Sudha Malik.[2] His father, a respected politician and legal professional, was elected to the Lok Sabha (Eighth) for the term 1984–89, defeating Chaudhary Devi Lal, former Deputy Prime Minister of India.[3] His mother, Sudha Malik, has been a Member of the Haryana Public Service Commission and has served as the Chairperson of Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) (Women Cell).[4]
Vishal Malik is married to Ankita Malik, a Senior Textile Designer and Design Manager at Trent Ltd (Tata Group). He credits his family, mentors, and close associates for shaping his values, discipline, and worldview. Despite growing professional visibility, he maintains humility and prioritizes meaningful work over personal fame.
Prominent figures Meghna Malik and Mahima Chaudhry are also related to him and according to sources Indian Film Actor Brijendra Kala also has close relations with his family. Vishal often credits his family’s values and guidance as the foundation for his humility and resilience.

Vishal Malik completed his schooling in Sonipat, Haryana, where he developed a keen interest in acting from an early age. However, despite academic success, his passion for performance and cinema remained unwavering.
Driven by this inner calling, Vishal made the bold decision to leave his legal studies unfinished and dedicate himself fully to acting. He then enrolled at Whistling Woods International Institute, where he immersed himself in the craft of performance. Over the years, he has worked in art films, documentaries, short films, and commercial cinema, steadily earning respect for his disciplined approach, sensitivity, and commitment to meaningful storytelling.
At Whistling Woods, Vishal trained in voice modulation, physical expression, improvisation, on-camera techniques, method acting, and character analysis.
