WIKA Industri Manufaktur (PT WIMA or simply WIMA for short) is an Indonesian electric motorcycle manufacturer based in Cileungsi, West Java.[1] PT WIMA share ownership is now fully controlled by 100 percent by PT WIKA Industri and Konstruksi (WIKON), which is a subsidiary of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero).[2]

WIMA is the sole producer of Gesits electric motorcycle. The Gesits electric motorcycle is the result of a research conducted by the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) since 2007. The development continued until 2015, the prototype was included in the IIMS automotive exhibition at that time. In order to be more serious in its cultivation, ITS and PT Garansindo Inter Global work together to be able to mass produce it. This is marked by a memorandum of understanding signed by both parties. A year later, PT Garansindo Inter Global and ITS introduced Gesits, which is the result of a collaboration between researchers from several universities and national automotive businessmen.
The next development is testing the durability of the Gesits electric motorcycle, as a step before mass production. Aspects tested include a study of performance, mileage, power consumption, and safety aspects, through the Jakarta-Bali test. At that time, Jokowi ensured that Gesits was ready to enter the domestic automotive market, and was ready for mass production in 2019. Until finally through the 2019 IIMS exhibition, the mass production version of Gesits was introduced and began to be sold to the general public.
Even though the distribution process experienced problems, in the end, fleet and individual consumers gradually began to receive it from the end of the year to early 2020. Despite being hit by a pandemic, Gesits continued to expand to open a sales network throughout Indonesia. Until finally Gesits also entered the export market to Senegal in June 2021. The electric motorbike was used as a transportation fleet. It is planned that Gesits will also be exported to Australia. Several other countries have also looked at electric motorcycles made by the nation's children.[2]
Facility[edit]
WIMA manufactured its product in a facility located in Cileungsi, West Java. The production capacity is stated to be about 200 units/day. After Covid-19 pandemic, the capacity is reduced to 60 units/day. However, usually WIMA will adjust production to the existing demand.[1]
