Weston Wanderers are a fictional football team in the British comic Champ, which appeared in the We are United strip (1984-1986). The club's nickname is The Dark Blues.
History
Weston Wanderers were founded in 1897. The club won the league in 1906 and 1930. After dropping to the second division they returned to the top flight as champions for the 1948/49 season. In 1976/77 Wanderers won their third title in the second division.
In 1984/85 under manager Ronald McCabe, the Wanderers had a good run staying safe, thanks to 27 goals from flying winger Tommy Sparks who had joined in 1981 as a club record signing. Other star players were midfielder duo Alex Young and Colin ?
