Window Unit Blues is the seventh studio album from American rock band Sink Tapes.

Content[edit]

The twelve-track album was released digitally on 27 August 2015 with Mint 400 Records, and the compact disc edition was released by Sniffling Indie Kids. Window Unit Blues was recorded and produced by Sink Tapes, and mastered by Bryan Batiste. It contains shoegazey, mellow pop songs, power odes and long guitar solos, and is conceptually a story about a suburban summer.[1][2] Window Unit Blues draws comparison to classic rock bands, as well as the music of the indie rock band Cloud Nothings, the shoegaze band Yuck, the indie pop band Lilys, and the pop rock band Big Star.[3][2] The song "Plastic Lover" released as a single on 24 March 2015, and "You Shouldn't Have" was released as a single, on 17 July 2015.

Reception[edit]

Bob Makin calls Window Unit Blues "their best work" in a 2016 edition of Courier News.[4] Chris Rotolo of Speak Into My Good Eye describes Window Unit Blues as a "sort of jangling, fuzz-smothered offering we're used to receiving Sink Tapes, but with a bit more mind paid to the group's pop capabilities," noting "the bands ode to day drinking and betting on the ponies at Monmouth Park" for the song "Haskell Heavy Hitters."[1] "You Shouldn't Have" is noted for its Creation Records influences, and is described as a "dark, dreamy piece of shoegaze pop."[5]
