Career[edit]

Career beginnings:[edit]

Amir, an expert hip hop and locking dancer founded Scaring Style dance school in 2011, which eventually got renamed as ADS Crew Ooty in 2016. In 2012 Amir (then Joseph Jhon Xavier) made into Limca book of records for incessantly dancing for hours.[4]

Later, Amir joined as an assistant choreographer under the choreographer Kala, and worked on Tamil television reality shows Odi Vilayadu Pappa and Maanada Mayilada which were broadcast on Kalaignar TV.

2016–2020: Career recognitions[edit]

In 2016, Amir with his team ADS Crew Ooty participated in the reality show Kings Of Dance (KOD) Season 1 which was telecast on Star Vijay and subsequently team ADS Ooty Girls emerged as the title winners of the show under his mentorship. He also followed up the KOD for season 2 where his team became runners up of the season.[4] Following this success he got opportunities to work as a choreographer for various shows in the Tamil Television Industry, primarily for the Star Vijay and Colors Tamil networks.

He debuted as a choreographer in the film industry for the Malayalam movie Team 5 in 2017. He has worked as a choreographer for various Malayalam and Tamil films and projects, notably for the movies Dha Dha 87 and Yenda Thalaiyila Yenna Vekkala.

2021–present:[edit]

Amir gained widespread social media and public popularity as a contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss (Tamil season 5) where he finished up as the third runner up of the season.[5] He also later participated as a contestant in the dance show Bigg Boss Jodigal season 2 alongside his partner Pavani Reddy.

Personal life[edit]

Amir was born as Joseph Jhon Xavier in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. He lost his father early in his childhood which plunged his family into financial crisis. Later, he moved to Coimbatore with his mother where he lost his mother in an incident. During the early phases of his college life Amir wanted to join Indian Army and for the same purpose he enrolled himself for BA in Defence and Strategic Studies in Government Arts College Ooty.[6][7]

As a child, his mother, who used be a classical dancer encouraged him to dance to the Prabhu Deva songs played on the TVs and to compete for the numerous local dance competitions. This encouraged him to participate in an inter college dance competition which he eventually won. At that very moment he decided to choose dance as his career path to fulfil his mother's dream to see him as a great dancer.

Besides dancing Amir has great interest in film making, in acting and in the filed of direction. He considers Prabhu Deva as his model personality. He also has great interest in sports, especially in football and cricket.

Amir officially announced his relationship with television actress Pavani Reddy on social media as a couple.[8][9]
