Arunita Kanjilal is an Indian classical and semi-classical singer from Bangaon, West Bengal. She sings in Hindi and Bengali language. She participated in Indian Idol 12 and became the 1st runner-up of the show.[1]
Early life[edit]
Arunita was born on 18 January 2003 at Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal.At the age of 4, she started learning classical music from her mother, and continued learning from her maternal uncle.[2] She also got Indian classical training from Ravindra Ganguly in Pune and Nandita Chowdhury in Kolkata.
Musical career[edit]
In 2013, Arunita won the Bengali singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla.[3] She participated in the Zee TV singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2014 and became a finalist.[4] In 2020–2021 she participated in Indian Idol Season 12 and stood as the first runner up.[5] Arunita became the youngest Indian at 18 years of age to perform at Wembley SSE Arena in London (UK).[6] She was invited as the Sunday guest editor of e-Patrika which is a e-newspaper based in Rajasthan.[7][8][9] Currently she has been doing playback singing for music directors.[10][11]
