Early Life[edit]
Chaker was born to a Palestinian-Lebanese filmmaker father and Palestinian socio-political professor mother Dr. Olfat Mahmoud.[4] Khazaal grew up in Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut and at a young age, he participated in several local plays and starred in the Palestinian film Sugar of Jaffa.[5] He later immigrated to Canada and studied at York University as a 2005 recipient of the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award.[6] He graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in International Development Studies.[7][8][9]
Career[edit]
Chaker started writing the Confessions of a War Child books in 2012, a thriller romantic trilogy of fiction inspired by true stories of war children around the world. The first part was published in 2013, under the main title, followed by the second installment in 2014, subtitled Lia and the third part of the trilogy subtitled Sahara in 2015.[10]
In 2017, he published the romantic-thriller novel Tale of Tala about a Palestinian refugee's journey from a camp in Lebanon to human traffickers in Europe where she becomes a prostitute and later meets a bestselling New York writer who goes on a mission to find her missing husband.[11][12]
Chaker writes in the Huffington Post about various topics, mainly related to the Middle East and refugees.[13] He speaks about refugee issues and youth empowerment in conferences worldwide and on mainstream media.[14]
Khazaal founded a business that offers refugees and migrants contractual remote employment in e-marketing, graphics, social media management and web development. For this venture, he was named among the 50 Most Powerful Arab Businessmen.[15]
He worked as the Editor-in-Chief of Dubai-based StepFeed and YallaFeed news platforms in 2017.[16]
