Cryoport Inc. (NASDAQ: CRYX) is U.S.-headquartered publicly traded provider of temperature-controlled and cold chain logistics solutions for temperature-sensitive life sciences commodities. [1] Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the company serves the biopharmaceutical industry with logistics solutions for biologic materials and regenerative medicine, including immunotherapies, stem cells and CAR T-cells.[2] Cryoport also provides a range of bioservices to the life sciences industry, such as biostorage for biological specimens, materials and samples. Cryoport's solutions are used by points-of-care, CRO's, central laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers, university researchers et al; as well as the reproductive medicine market, primarily in IVF and surrogacy; and the animal health market, primarily in the areas of vaccines and reproduction. Cryoport owns several patents and trademarks, including: Cryoport's proprietary Cryoport Express® Shippers, the Cryoportal® Logistics Management Platform, and the SmartPak II™ Condition Monitoring System.
Cryoport’s mission is to: simplify global cold chain logistics through innovative technology, monitoring and data capture and support, including consulting services; deliver advanced temperature-controlled logistics solutions for the life sciences industry; and provide vital information throughout the life of each logistics process.
In addition to it's Nashville headquarters, company locations include facilities in Irvine, California, Livingston, New Jersey, Amsterdam and Singapore.[4]
Cryoport provides logistics services for three on-the-market regenerative medicine therapies: Kymriah® (Tisagenlecleucel), a Novartis product available in the United States, Canada, and the European Union. Yescarta® (axicabtagene ciloleucel), which is a product of Gilead Sciences company Kite Pharma, available in the United States and the European Union;[5] and Zynteglo, a product of bluebird bio, available in the United States and the European Union.[6] In addition, Cryoport supports hundreds of clinical research trials around the world, supporting 413 clinical trials in Q2 2019.
Cryoport established several partnerships in 2019 with life sciences companies, including Celularity, Adaptimmune, Eversana, and Vineti.[7][8] [9]
Cryoport announced its acquisition of Cryogene for May 2019. Cryogene is based in Houston, Texas and operates a 21,000-sq-ft facility that provides secure storage of biological specimens, materials and samples. Cryogene is ISO 9001 compliant, registered and inspected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); is routinely inspected by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) as a storage supplier for accredited cell banks; and manages its inventories by a validated sample inventory software system.[10]
