Dark Deception is a first-person, episodic horror game initially developed in 2014 by Glowstick Entertainment. The game has a play-style reminiscent of Pac-Man,[1] with the goal of escaping several nightmares. The game currently features 4 chapters and 8 playable levels in-game, with the main focus is on completing trials and facing your own nightmares contain in each level.
Synopsis[edit]
The game revolves around Doug Houser, who finds himself in a Ballroom. There, a woman named Bierce greets him and explains that if he wants to return to the living world, he will need to endure many grueling trials. With that, she introduces him to various portals in which Doug needs to collect a number of Soul Shards, the remnants of human souls, then he can finally return to the living world. Unfortunately, this challenge won't be easy, for the Shards are guarded by bizarre monsters and their master, Malak, who will stop at nothing to stop Doug from succeeding.
Gameplay[edit]
The game has 8 available levels, with each level will guide you through special places accessible by using portals, called nightmares. The player needs to collect a specific number of Soul shards in each level and safely return to the exit portal in order to complete a nightmare. However, the map is not empty. Shards are also guarded by bizarre monsters with special abilities and behavior for each type.
The levels will be divided into 3 different zones, and as the player progress toward the end game difficulty slowly increases as it adds more enemies to the map. At the end of each nightmare, players may encounter a "boss", and they are required to defeat them to continue their progress.
Players can also have specific power by using the Ring Altar in the Ballroom, using upgrade points to unlock. These can include Speed boost, Teleport, Primal fear, Telepathy, and more, which provide players with a bonus that can be used to complete levels with ease.
