The Embassy of the United States in Ljubljana is the diplomatic mission of the United States of America in Slovenia.[1]
History[edit]
The United States recognized Slovenia as an independent state on April 7, 1992. The United States established formal diplomatic relations with Slovenia on August 6, 1992, following Slovenia's independence from Yugoslavia. The Embassy in Ljubljana was opened on August 25, 1992, with E. Allan Wendt serving as Chargé d'Affaires ad interim.[2][3][4]
Since then, the United States has actively supported Slovenia's integration into international organizations such as NATO, the European Union (EU), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Cooperation has not been limited to political and economic areas, as the United States and Slovenia have worked closely on regional stabilization efforts, including the deployment of peacekeeping forces to Bosnia after the Dayton Agreement in 1995.[5]
