The India Greens - The Green Party of India (IG) is an emerging political party in India established on 18 November 2018. The Party is still in the initial stages of creation and is seeking to register with the Election Commission of India, the party emphasizes campaigning primarily on social and environmental issues. The Party would become a member of the Asia Pacific Greens Federation and participate in the Global Greens once the registration is complete.

History[edit]

The party was initiated on 2 July 2017 after almost two years' discussions; however, it met for its first-ever National Convention & General Assembly on 17-18 November 2018 in New Delhi. On the concluding day of the two-day event, the party adopted its Constitution including Preamble, Core Principles, and Policies. A 3-year action plan has also been chalked out. The party is committed to providing a green political alternative to India. [2]

Ideology[edit]

The party was formed on the 18th of November 2018 to advocate sustainable and green environment in India and elsewhere. The Green Ideology and Green Politics of India Greens are based on the six Core Principles of the Global Greens Charter. They are ecological wisdom, sustainability, social justice, non-violence, participatory democracy and respect for diversity. The Party is committed to clean and green India ecologically and politically. For it, planet, people and peace come first.
