Ivan Yeo is a Singaporean entrepreneur. He founded and was the CEO of EVOS Esports, a professional esports organisation[1][2] In 2022, he co-founded Avium, a Web3 open-metaverse ecosystem.[3]

Early life and education[edit]

Ivan was born on 15 April 1990 in Singapore.[citation needed] He is bilingual, being fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese. In his teenage years, Ivan was an avid gamer especially in the game of Dota, playing the game every night with his friends. He was briefly a competitive esports player, competing in the World Cyber Games.[4]

Ivan graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the Eberhardt School of Business at University of the Pacific in California, USA.[5]

Career[edit]

Ivan started his professional career doing finance and fund management in a family office. His portfolio included real-estate investments in countries such as Japan and Australia, as well as seed funding of enterprise solutions and AI-related tech startups. He also ran a restaurant business in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.[6]

EVOS Esports and ATTN Holdings[edit]

In 2016, Ivan founded EVOS Esports with two friends. By 2021, he has built EVOS Esports into the one of the leading professional esports companies in Southeast Asia, with presence across five local markets, achieving 3 World Championship titles which include the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship and the Free Fire World Cup.[7][8][9]

In 2019, to further expand value, Ivan formed ATTN, the holding company of EVOS Esports and additional business arms, WHIM Creator Network and Noctua Publishing. Through WHIM, a digital marketing, gaming talent management and training outfit under ATTN holdings, the company manages 300 players and gaming influencers.[10] Together, they have a following of over 60 million YouTube subscribers and over 60 million Instagram followers, drawing over 600 million monthly views across Southeast Asia.[11]

Ivan raised a total of USD 16.4 million in Series A and B funding which allowed EVOS Esports to further expand its businesses.[12][13] In 2021, EVOS Esports was the sixth most watched esports organisation globally (third in Asia, after T1 and DWG KIA).[14] Through the popularity of the EVOS brand, Ivan secured partnerships with major clients such as PUMA, Visa, Lazada and Yamaha.[15]

Stepping down from EVOS to focus on health[edit]

In 2021, Ivan had to step down from his role as CEO at EVOS Esports due to growing health concerns. He was diagnosed with Kennedy disease, an incurable neurodegenerative disorder, causing him to lose his ability to properly walk, speak and eat.[16]

Throughout 2021, ATTN and EVOS Esports had a restructure, and Ivan worked closely with the new management team in accordance with the organisation's succession plan. By January 2022, he was no longer in-charge of the day-to-day operations of the organisation.[17]

Upon stepping down, Ivan focused on his physical and mental health by following a strict diet regime and exercise routine. This successfully allowed him to make progressive recoveries, and time to explore other opportunities.[18]

Avium and Web3[edit]

After Ivan stepped down from EVOS Esports, he studied in-depth about Web3 and its disruption capability.[19] In 2022, Ivan co-founded Avium with Nathanael Lim and Yap Eugene, which aims to build an open-metaverse ecosystem where the Avium brand and Intellectual Property (IP) can be fully owned by the community, enabling people from all walks of life to access more opportunities.[20]

Awards and Accolades[edit]

In recognition of his business achievement, Ivan was listed in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2020.[21] In the same year, he was also listed in the Tatler Gen T List[22], the Prestige 40 Under 40 List[23] and the Edge 35 under 35 List.[24]

In addition, Ivan and EVOS Esports also won multiple awards at Marketing Events Awards 2020, including Gold in Best Use of Games/Contests, Silver in Best Use of Sponsorship, and Bronze in Best Use of Live Streaming.[25]
