Ivonne Geraldine Cerdas Cascante (born August 3, 1992) is a model, beauty queen and Software Engineer, recognized for participating on several occasions in the National Beauty Contest, Cerdas won the right to represent Costa Rica in the Miss Universe 2020 by crowning herself the winner of the 66th edition of Miss Costa Rica[1]. In this competition, he was placed within the box of 10 semifinalists, occupying the sixth place. Cerdas also works as an engineer in the international company Intel.

Personal life[edit]

Cerdas, was born in the Central Canton of San José more precisely in the Hospital district, grew up in the city of Hatillo, is the daughter of Pedro Cerdas and María Cascante, was diagnosed with Dyslexia and Stuttering from a very young age, conditions that were hidden by Cerdas for a long time, because she considered that beauty queens should be perfect, however, she went through a process of acceptance, which now allows her Be a spokesperson and expose her testimony in different areas of her life.[2].Ivonne studies software engineering at the National Technical University of Costa Rica

Miss Costa Rica 2012[edit]

Cerdas participated in the 58th edition of the national contest, corresponding to the year 2012, with only 19 years of age, she was positioned as one of the favorites, despite the little experience she had, at the end of the evening Ivonne was positioned as the first finalist.

Miss Costa Rica 2015[edit]

Ivonne's second participation was in the 61st edition, corresponding to 2015 and with 22 years of age, in said contest, she was also classified as one of the maximum favorites, with a great possibility that she will win the crown, at the end of the evening, Cerdas was ranked second runner-up, the national crown, which was won by Brenda Castro.

Miss Costa Rica 2020[edit]

Cerdas, 27 years old and with one last chance, participates in the 66th edition of the National Beauty Contest, for the third time in a row, the josefina was placed as one of the audience's favorites, coupled with the already visible experience she had, The final evening was held on November 18, 2020, at the Marco Picado Studio of Teletica, taking precedence over the also favorite Valeria Rees.[3][4]

Miss Universe 2020[edit]

Cerdas, participated in the 69th edition of the Miss Universe contest, corresponding to the Miss Universe 2020, which was held in the city of Miami, Florida in the United States of America, Ivonne competed with candidates from 73 countries and autonomous territories in a difficult international situation, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The final night was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the night of May 16, 2021.[5]. Cerdas at the end of the evening was placed in the table of ten finalists, was named in the twentieth position of the first cut and eighth in the second cut. She established herself as a favorite of the contest since she arrived in the city of Miami, Florida, she wore a yellow swimsuit and a dress of the same color with more than forty thousand crystals in the preliminary, on the final night, she wore a ball gown In red, Cerdas is the sixth Costa Rican to enter a Miss Universe finalists and the fifth to position herself in a top 10.[6]
