MMNSS College Kottiyam is an arts and science college and law college named after the social reformer and the founder of Nair Service Society (NSS) Mannathu Padmanabha Pillai . It is located at Kottiyam , a town in Kollam district, Kerala state. MMNSS College Kottiyam is the abbreviated form of Mannam Memorial Nair Service Society College, Kottiyam , Kollam .[1]
In 2012 the first law college in Kerala in the private sector started on the campus of MMNSS College Kottiyam .[2] NSS Law College Kottiyam . It is a self-financing.
History [ edit ] MMNSS College, Kottiyam, Kollam is an aided arts, science, commerce and law college, affiliated to the University of Kerala .[3] Kottiyam , a small town 10 km away from Kollam. It is one of 24 colleges of the Nair Service Society ,[4] [5]
The founder was Mannathu Padmanabhan .
The first Principal of the college was Prof. P. Balakrishna Panicker. He was previously the HOD of the Dept of Physics of M G College, Trivandrum.
Degree courses were started during 1991. In 2004 the college was recognised by the University Grants Commission . The college has 40 teaching and 24 non-teaching staff. It offers degree courses in Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Zoology, English, Economics and Commerce. The college received accreditation by the NAAC on 15 June 2009.
