Portsfield are a fictional football team in the Bristish comic Champ, which first appeared in 1983-84 in the We are United strip. Club's nickname was The Fleet.
History
The club won the 4 league titles with the first being in 1891. Last title was the League Cup in 1970. In May 1983 Portsfield needed only a win on the last game to stay up. However, already relegated Riverton United with a winning-goal on 90th minute, sent Portsfield to Second Division.
Portsfield were an opponent for opponent for Riverton United, playing in the Second Divsion in 1983/84. Target man George Wylie was the team's free-scoring striker in 1983-84.
In 88/89 the club was again in Second Division fighting for promotion and finished third (Alton Rovers were champions).
