Celdeen are a fictional Scottish football team in the Bristish comic Champ and the Football Picture Story Monthly. It appeared in the We are United strip (1984-86), the United story, and the Goals of Jimmy Grant on the FPSM in the 1990s. The name was a reference to Glasgow Celtic F.C. and Aberdeen FC.
History
As it was mentioned in the We Are United strip, the club won the 82/83 title and did the treble in 83/84: Scottish league, League Cup (or known as Skol Cup) and FA Cup. They could have done the quadruple but they lost in the European Cup final in May 1984.
Danny Mcleish was the skipper, and with centre-half Willie Aitken created one of best defendce pairings in Europe. Celdeen had top class players, most were Scotland inernationals. In May 1984 Maurice Nicholas had scored for Scotland against England (1-1) and against keeper Charlie Barr. In 1990 Celdeen were the champions and played in the Great Britain championship match against Alton Villa and lost.
In 1992 Kevin Nicklish who had started his career from Celdeen returned home after a career with Southpool and Riverton United.
